Summary
In a rain-soaked Northern England town, two insomniacs find solace in the only light that matters: The one burning in the window across the narrow alleyway.
Bilbo Baggins, a gentle author and bookseller drowning in self-doubt, and Thorin Oakenshield, a brooding carpenter carrying the weight of a failed legacy, have spent months as silent companions in the dark. A 2 AM cigarette. A shared understanding of heavy silence. The comfort of knowing someone else is awake.
But when loneliness finally forces the neighbours to cross those twelve feet of cobblestone, they discover that the line between friendship and something more is as fragile as the sleep they've been chasing.

Summary
Thorin, struggling with wandering and untoward thoughts every time he sees Bilbo smile at him, has to find the reason behind his own hormone riddled urges — as it has no sensible explanation. He's a craftbound dwarf after all. Meant to spend his life without a lover or a spouse.
Thorin, for his part, is certain it’s an illness.
What other explanation can there be?

Summary
Bilbo stared. Thorin was nothing like a hobbit, but oh, he was lovely. Broad and muscled – and why had Bilbo ever found soft, round hobbits attractive? For that matter, why had he ever thought hair belonged only on heads and feet – clearly, the thick, dark pelt on Thorin’s chest was the erotic ideal.

Summary
Erebor is reclaimed and its people restored. The years have been good to the King Under the Mountain, who, in absence of the intense stress that has plagued him for most of his life, has found his waistline widening.
Bilbo, regardless of whatever Thorin might think, is very pleased by this turn of events, and takes the opportunity an insecure moment provides to tell him so.
With great vigor.
