Stan Pines parks on the side of the road to take a long, uneventful break from the long drive to his estranged brother's house. He swears he hears a little kid in the snowy darkness-

Why would a kid be out here on the side of the road-
Ford made a grave mistake, and now there is a rogue individual on the loose, breaking into people's properties and acting quite feral. His friend Fiddleford is missing- he has a trail on him thanks to the kind Courduroys family and is going to fix this mistake no matter what it takes, he sends a card to his brother to take his research. If the instructions to the virus is taken maybe it won't happen again. Hopefully, he finds his assistant in time before everything goes wrong-
He hopes this "virus" isn't spreadable.

Summary
Hand on the doorknob, Ford took as deep a breath as he could when his ribs were trying to strangle him. He flung the door open, yelling "HAVE YOU COME TO STEAL MY EYES?!" and brandishing his crossbow.
A strange silhouette—bulky, a strangely round and fluffy-looking head, and about Ford's height. He stumbled a bit, and they lurched forward, and Ford's quick trigger finger sure did come in handy, didn't it?
But no, no, no, that was—"Stanford?"—Stanley's voice, strained and surprised. And… that wasn't an oddly shaped head, it was a jacket hood.
"Stanley!" he cried out, the name torn from his chest, leaving more painfully than his heart would have. He rushed forward, steadying his brother, but there was a damp spot and a barbed arrow and the nearest open hospital was a forty-five minute walk and Ford didn't have a working car.
or, when Stan arrives in Gravity Falls, Ford is a bit more terrified and a bit less lucid, and shoots his brother square in the chest.
