Summary
Ryland Grace saved Earth, he saved Erid. He was supposed to die a hero somewhere between the stars.
Or at least he should have, if not for a certain Eridian who has taken a great offense to the short, finite nature of human life. Instead of cherishing the limited time left, Erid reworked the foundation of what was considered scientifically possible—they found a way to turn their resident alien into an Eridian.
But operating a whole new body-plan is not as easy as it may seem.

For once, Rocky didn’t comment on my leaking face. Didn’t call me gross or make fun of me otherwise. So I did it for him.
“Yeah,” I sniffed, half-laughing through it. “Humans leak, ew.”
Because, well—
This might be the last time I ever cried.
“No, Grace leak as much as want. Is okay!” Rocky rushed in immediately, all urgency and overlapping chords.
“Well, you weren’t going to, so someone else had to do it.”
He paused. “No understand. Is joke, question?”
“Yeah,” I said, sniffling a little. “It’s a joke.”

Summary
“We call this ♪♫.”
“The color or the rock?” I tease, earning myself a low staccato noise not unlike what a human might sound like when faking a laugh.
And then, from one second to another, he straightens. I sense the shift in the air, and as I rise from my squat, Rocky's gaze follows me very, very slowly.
“What?” I ask.
“Say name of this again,” he says, and I tilt my head. He’s never needed me to repeat something before. His hearing is immaculate, and he’s never once forgotten something I’ve told him.
“It’s a rock.”
He doesn’t move. He stares at me with his featureless face until even that feels more unsettling than eye contact.
“Grace,” he says flatly. “You are fucking kidding me, question?”

“Is not too much,” Rocky says firmly, leaning in until he’s nearly met my forehead, until my eyes go blurry with the task of adjusting to how close he is. I couldn’t even fit my glasses between us to put them on. “Hugs and cuddles through xenonite suit, only touch through many layers. Is not enough. Better to be under you skin, between you ribs. Hear you heart right up close, noisy, alive. I would prefer.”
"What?"
"What, question?"
