Summary
Three years after the Black Death first entered Ba Sing Se, the city still stands.
The bells no longer ring every hour. The plague doctors have become a familiar sight in the streets. Quarantines, masks, and patrols have become ordinary parts of life, while survivors struggle to rebuild a city forever changed by disease.
But survival is not the same as victory.
As new forms of the plague emerge and the sickness spreads beyond the walls of Ba Sing Se, Khione begins searching for something no one in this world has ever imagined: a way to fight the disease itself. While the Gaang, the Dai Li, healers, scholars, merchants, and ordinary citizens unite in an unprecedented effort, the battle slowly shifts from containment to discovery.
For the first time since the first bell rang, humanity begins to fight back.
But as medicine offers hope to Ba Sing Se, the plague escapes the city that held it longest. Carried along trade routes and across the sea, the Black Death becomes a catastrophe no nation can face alone.
The war for Ba Sing Se is ending.

Summary
One year after the first plague wave nearly destroyed Ba Sing Se, the city begins to breathe again. The bells slow. The death carts lighten. Survivors cautiously reopen markets and homes while Khione, Katara, Sokka, Aang, Toph, and the Dai Li continue patrols beneath the shadow of lingering infection.
But the peace is temporary.
When coughing returns to Stoneflower Market, Khione realizes the plague has evolved. The second wave spreads not through explosive collapse, but through breath, contact, and routine. Pneumonic plague moves quietly through reopened streets, delivery routes, crowded homes, and hidden carriers. The city does not fall into chaos this time. Instead, Ba Sing Se enters a long war of detection, isolation, and endurance. As months pass, the plague doctors become a permanent part of the city. The Dai Li transform from secret police into containment wardens. Sokka builds tracking systems. Katara learns to heal within impossible limits. And Khione becomes known across the city as its doctor.
By the end of the year, the plague has not vanished. But Ba Sing Se has learned how to survive it.
