Summary
Lan Zhan doesn’t think about him anymore.
The days when he would obsess over every tiny work Wei Ying appeared in are long gone. His days of buying every magazine he was in, of taping his interviews and watching them over and over again just to get a piece of the real him, they’re all over. Lan Zhan doesn’t follow every project Wei Ying is a part of anymore, doesn’t try to find out if Wei Ying ever mentioned him anywhere, and doesn’t keep the TV on just in case he hears Wei Ying’s voice in a new commercial.
He has weeks, and even months, when Wei Ying doesn’t even cross his mind at all. And when he does, it is only with a faded kind of fondness, a simmering affection to the memories they shared together.
He’s happy for the things Wei Ying achieved. There is almost no hurt at all, almost no pain. And almost must be just as good as none.

Good if you want to have a good cry. It's sweet and emotional and has a happy ending that I wish was longer so I could enjoy them being a couple too. But ultimately, just really nice.
And this has nothing to do with the overall look at the story, but Madam yu is truly a horrid person, God, I hate her.

This story feels almost exploratory to me. Of course, it could just be that it's the hardest thing I've ever read in this particular topic, but I do enjoy how the author makes as much emphasis on what they get out of it psychologically, as well as physically. It's actually a pity I don't particularly ship this ship anymore, canon!Steve isn't sweet nor loyal as he is in this story and that's true for... well, a lot of stories of this ship, but the dissonance wasn't quite so great before MCU!CW.
That aside, the writing here is quite good, the characterization, while Steve is an actually good person and Tony a lot darker, are very interesting, more than that, in the last story especially I felt like I could see then truly falling in love and being it for each other, which is ultimately the feeling I always look for when I read something about I ship I enjoy, the amount of care in that last one, even though it was the hardest one, I don't know, it was great. I really liked the way kink was treated too, I don't know much about it, and I imagine it was quite a bit quick paced for a virgin, but his special circumstances make it so he can take it and Tony is just 𝘴𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 at it.
I'm not sure what made me reread this after so many years of just not shipping this couple at all, but it was an interesting read nonetheless.

Lan Zhan shuts off the water before it can start getting cold, because Wei Ying still needs to take one. Any other day, Wei Ying would have slunk in, pretending to be annoyed that Lan Zhan started without him, and neither of them would have want for hot water, but Wei Ying is still asleep.
