Summary
It's 1900, and as one century is set to be put to rest, its successor seems destined for a treacherous start. T. Basilton Grimm-Pitch, famed Book Keeper, spends his days repairing magickal texts infected by a rampaging spell-chewing malaise. When he receives a knock at the door late one night, he allows a stranger to slip into his life whom it might prove difficult to ever be rid of...
...Simon Snow, naturally, is no ordinary customer. He couldn't tell you the last book he read if his life depended on it, for one thing. The other thing is that he's really a thief, and one on a mission. No magickal bookshop or much-maligned Book Keeper is safe...

Summary
There's a story unfolding in the kingdom by the forest, but it's not the one you think. There are knights, true, and a princess bored out of her skull—and like any good story, this one has its fair share of villains.
But it's also got pits, and pitfalls and prophecy. Problems popping out of the woodwork, and the threat of an unwanted ending looming large. Simon's going to have to keep his eyes and mind open to get out of this one, pride intact. And he'll really have to watch where he's swinging that legendary sword...

Summary
Just when Sophie thinks a nice, boring day is on the cards, she takes a morning walk to the local market - only to return to a distinct lack of moving castle. Wait, what? It is, of course, absurd. Unwarranted, even. Utterly unfair! To get the castle back, she and a wardrobeless Howl will have to put their heads together and think up a plan. Next, they'll need to pull it off. And then, of course, there's the question of why the castle ran away in the first place...

Summary
Eivor returns from the north a bruised and bloodied spectre. He stands at the edge of Ravensthorpe, looking out on the life within. He should have been here days ago—in truth, he's been delaying this moment. The return. Peace is for other people, Eivor thinks. He doesn't believe there's anything left for him.
But in a clearing on the outskirts of everything, Eivor realises he's quite wrong...

Summary
Baz Pitch's life is changing, and he categorically does not approve—he's moving to London for a postgraduate degree, everything he's ever owned and known packed into cardboard boxes. Climbing into a car with his aunt, he says goodbye to all that's right and familiar. And when they get lost coming off the M6, ending up on a winding country lane, he doesn't fight it... anything that might delay his mildly terrifying fate could only be a good thing, right? Even if that delay turns into disaster, and then—dare we say—an adventure. (Oh, the horror.) To find his way home again, Baz will need to dispense with his past and follow the river—and, of course, keep a careful hold on his name.

Summary
No good day has ever begun with the plea "Don't kill me", but even so, Sophie tries to make the best of it. Going downstairs, she finds the castle in disarray after a spell gone wrong - there's a star out of sorts in the kitchen, a wizard marooned in the fruit bowl, and a malevolent twist of magic in the air. It's going to be fine, right? They'll be able to fix this. If nothing else, it should make for a good cautionary tale...

Summary
Sophie doesn't like mess; as far as she's concerned, the best thing about chaos is the order that can be made from it. So why is the living room filled with unwanted letters, the kitchen inundated with malign envelopes? There's a prime suspect in mind, and he's doubtless wearing something glittery. Perhaps with Calcifer's (remarkably unhelpful) assistance, she can put the castle back together.

Summary
A baker has gone missing, and the moderately successful Viking settlement of Ravensthorpe is in turmoil. Eivor Wolf-Kissed, their somewhat reluctant leader, doesn't have any say in how his immediate future is to go—he has only one job to do. Eivor needs to find Tarben, and bring him back alive. And if he can get through this without confessing his terribly inconvenient feelings, well, that'd be great, actually. But the odds aren't looking good.

Summary
Basilton Pitch, twenty-two years old and a famed poet of the Romantic era, has fled to the countryside. In Mummers House, the fabled haunt of literary greats, he sulks himself into oblivion and awaits a sad, disappointing end to his brief years of brilliance. The cause of his downfall? None other than Simon Snow, the so-called “bad boy of English poetry”, breaker of rules and eternal thorn in his side. Baz hopes that Mummers House might mean an escape from London, from Snow and his increasingly virulent popularity... but the rain that comes has other ideas.

Summary
Picture the scene: you're trying to have a nice night out with your boyfriend and his bloody massive telescope (not a euphemism), when you're interrupted by his murderous, paperwork-hating aunt. Maybe it's a sign that you should go home and give up? Sink into the sofa, same as always. But no, romance does not die on this night. Simon and Baz have got something important to say, and they just might get there, if they can only look up.

Summary
An axe in one hand, shield in the other—those are about the only certainties in Eivor's life. Lately though, he's been having ideas of what else might belong in his hand—flour, for example, or a sack of grain. Or maybe someone else's hand...? Regardless, Eivor's not going to dwell on such things. As he tells himself every morning while deftly avoiding his fated meeting with the alliance map, I don't even like bread.

It's a tale as old as time: boy meets haunted typewriter, haunted typewriter's got an attitude problem. Meanwhile, in a dingy little shop on the far side of town, Baz Pitch's telegraph begins to transmit a series of sweet nothings, dashes and dots and magic knows what...

A collection of ficlets originally posted on tumblr.
I. Miscellaneous Kisses: Empty lighthouses, romantic ambushes, a singular sausage, last-minute rehearsals, dusty rooms, hillsides in November, endless question marks, "borrowed" cars, soulmate spells, birthday cake and football pitches - these are stories about all sorts of kisses, and the unlikely ways we fall into them.
II. Miscellaneous Meetings: an aeroplane, a parking space, an empty high street on a Sunday morning, a traitorous cat, a getaway car and a department store - these are stories about the ways two people come together, in all the worlds and every universe.
III. Miscellaneous Words: haunted sheet music, grey skies, a bad internet connection, careless spellwork, shiny hair and a Welsh hillside - these are stories about how words give us definition, and the hidden meanings we find along the way.
IV. Lost Miscellany: milk bottles, text message drama, lying on the sofa, unkillable plants, beautiful nuisance psychics, you're not goth enough, taxidermy squirrels and an ice cream van - these are stories almost lost to time, about little moments in life that stand out. -

Summary
Simon doesn't make a habit of wandering into bookshops on his day off, but today is an important exception - the brand new Hurt/Comfort book has been released, and he absolutely has to know how book four's cliffhanger is resolved. The only obstacle standing in his way is this absolute tosser of a bookseller named "Bazp"... and spoiler alert, he's fucking annoying. (Also, he's annoyingly good looking.)
