An alarmed glance at the stairs had Lucius quickly making up his mind. “Protecting my daughter and I,” Charlie kept staring at the stairs, clinging to her father with increasing concern. “What’s your price?”
The demon hummed, tilting his head side to side as though mulling it over. “Oh, so you’re not entirely inept.” He chuckled, “Well then. Permit me entry to your home and resources and I believe that will just about cover it. Does that sound fair?”

Something passes through Lucifer’s face, a hostile tremor, a threat that almost curled the tip of his sneer. Alastor heard him chuckle, but it had to be his imagination, because Lucifer only blinked in his direction with lethargic contemplation.
“So, that’s it,” he said, a smug, self-satisfied resolve sweetening his raspy voice, which irritated him to no end. “You’ll have my body as payment.”
Somehow, Alastor ends up entangled with the Devil.

Wei Ying laughed, light and tinkering, watching Lan Zhan turn away so shyly. Her prince was far more reserved than the bold words of adoration she proclaimed. "Lan Zhan is so cute," she hummed. "So different from our letters. Are you sure it was really you who wrote them?"
At that, Lan Zhan quickly looked back, eyes wide and fiery. She glowered down at the omega, offended. "No one else." She grabbed Wei Ying's shoulders in her hands, grip tight, and pulled her closer until they were nearly nose-to-nose. Soft lavender enveloped Lan Zhan, and she nearly growled deep in her chest. "No one else could love you as I do. Do not joke."

Maybe Wei Ying was wrong.
