Scenes from my take on a human/modern/our world AU. Set circa 1990's-early 2000's. Two ruthless businessmen try to exploit each other, accidentally catch feelings, and don't really do anything about it because they think existing together in a continuous liminal space is safer.
This fic is me making up two fucked up people and smashing them together in a petri dish and watching what kind of mold they grow.
I generally enjoy insufferable and/or flawed characters finding something beautiful in each other, so this fic is about that too.

In this story, Stuart Sutcliffe didn't die in 1962 and instead is a working artist living in London with Astrid, occasionally doing freelance work for his old friends the Beatles. Stuart and Astrid have an open marriage and each embark on passionate queer relationships in 1968, which bring them both joy but challenge their stability as a couple.
