Summary
Hitoshi had steadfastly ignored his headspace as his stress piled on his shoulders. He had an increased workload with his classes, and the amount of group projects and papers were enough to sometimes make him consider, briefly, dropping out. An education at U.A certainly wasn’t a joke; it wasn’t considered a top-rated school for the lunch specials, that’s for sure.
Point was: Hitoshi hadn’t dropped in weeks, was stressed up to his ears, and barely slept, his insomnia keeping him awake (and stressing him out further). He could foresee a meltdown in his future, but he figured if he stayed clear of his headspace, everything would be fine—he’d be struggling, of course, but overall, fine.
(He was not fine.)
That was his plan, at least . . . until he saw an adorable lion plushie at the store, and thought, for the first time, oh, I want that.

“I expected better from you, Problem Child.”
Izuku brings his shoulders up to his ears at Aizawa’s stern tone. The lecture begins in a blistering tone that he tries to pay attention to—he does, he really does; but the stress, the disappointment, the scolding . . . it’s too much. His mind whirls with thoughts. Apologies melt on his tongue. His headspace sinks deep claws into his mind, intent to drag itself out of the box Izuku has been shoving it into for months, now.
“—Midoriya,” that sharp voice cuts through his muddled thoughts. Aizawa leans forward with narrowed eyes, forearms pressed against his knees. Stern homeroom teacher melts into stern caregiver when he questions, “Are you listening to me—?”
Unable to smother the cacophony of little inside of him anymore, Izuku bursts into tears.

“Hello—?”
“Hey, uh, hey Shinsou!” He blinked at the babbled voice, recognizing it as belonging to Kirishima Eijirou. “Hey, you’re still a Re-Registered Support Omega, right?”
Hitoshi raised an eyebrow. Had someone in the class gone feral or something? “Yes, why—?”
“Great!” Kirishima interrupted as if he hadn’t spoke. Hitoshi could overhear snarls and low growls in the distance, and sighed inwardly. He could already tell what kind of evening his night would turn into. Goodbye corny and romantic Christmas movies . . . farewell. “Still live in that fancy house of yours?”
Hitoshi snorted to himself. He could hardly count his 1 bed and bath as fancy, but as most of his classmates still either lived at home or with roommates, he supposed he could see that perspective. His own home had been a gift from his maternal grandmother when she had passed. “Yeah . . . what’s your ETA?”
“Ten minutes out! See you then.”
Before another question could fall from Hitoshi’s lips, the phone call disconnected.
