There's this absolutely devastating way he looks at her, sometimes. All big-eyed and sweet, like he really knows, down to his bones, that he's safe with Mandy, that she cares about him and will protect him and he can be soft if he needs to, and it just absolutely kills her in the best way. Right now he gives her that look over the last bites of a candlelit dinner (thankfully not at SDN this time) and asks her, so shyly no one on the Z-Team would believe it, if she will share his next heat. He's really looking at her as if she's going to say no, all big brown eyes in the soft light, as if what he's offering her might somehow not be good enough, instead of everything she wants.

Summary
Robert has never gone on anything like this many actual dates. His romantic history has a lot more hookups, hangouts, and nebulous things than real dates, and he really doesn't know what to do with himself in these situations. Not necessarily in a bad way, even, he just feels new. And feeling new when he's almost thirty-three years old and feels closer to fifty most of the time is a fascinating novelty.
