Summary
This is Part One of Four, each part covers several chapters. Part One begins in November of 1972, the ending of one of Julia Hoffman's journals, which she has kept since childhood. This journal is the most important of all. Her life as a doctor, her innermost thoughts and emotions, and her personal war with her feelings for Barnabas. She battles a fever brought to Collinwood by Adam. Barnabas suffers sickness and has terrible visions of Angeligue returning to torment him. Julia becomes ill and dreams horrible nightmares of leaping from Widow's Hill. Through all this sickness, she and Barnabas are drawn closer together and realize they have yet another foe to battle, a vengeful ghost set on destruction.
