“It’s alright.” Shiu took Nashi’s reins and directed him a few steps away from Choso. From a ways outside the stable, Toji and Kurotsuki silently observed. “I’ll hold him still while you mount. He’ll just follow Kuro-chan unless you direct him otherwise.”
“How does he know to do that?” Choso’s brow furrowed deeper with his growing concern. “Staying behind Kuro-chan?”
Shiu cast a glance at his mate before turning back to Choso and lowering his voice. “Because I like to ride behind Toji so that I can stare at his ass.”
Because of his father's sins, Choso is as a pariah of his pack, forced to live on the edge of their territory as a solitary omega, and providing medicine to bold pack members when needed. Leaning into the rumors of witchcraft, he puts animal bones in the trees to dissuade unwelcome visitors, and it works, for a while - until a pair of mysterious alphas - mates, no less - stumble upon his isolated cottage, one of whom is in dire need of medical attention. To his chagrin, Choso finds himself growing curious about the alpha mercenaries, who seem to be hiding more than they let on - but who also seem to share a similar intrigue toward the strange omega.

“Itadori,” Higuruma rasps, “put the shirt on.”
“I could.” Yuuji shrugs with a nonchalance he doesn’t feel. “Do you really want me to though?”
Higuruma looks briefly pained. But he’s still looking. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Direct approach then. Not that Yuuji knows anything else, but he usually doesn’t have to use his words, just his body. “Do you want to have sex, Higuruma-san?”
Higuruma gets a little bug-eyed, almost as expressive as he was when yelling at Yuuji about darkness and light and people. “Itadori.”
“I don’t mind,” Yuuji assures him.
“That’s not the—” Higuruma briefly closes his eyes. “How old are you?”
“Fifteen.”
There’s a low, strangled noise. “Do you usually go around propositioning men over twice your age?”
“Not really,” Yuuji says. It’s mostly true. Half true. “I don’t get it though.”
For a moment, Higuruma almost looks him in the eye. “You don’t understand why I wouldn’t want to fuck a child?”
“You were ready to kill me earlier, right? This can’t be worse.”
A wardrobe malfunction drastically alters the aftermath of Yuuji’s fight with Higuruma.

“I have a favour to ask,” Joe asks, and it feels the same as it did earlier when he had to thank Toye for telling him he could smell heat on him. He wants to grit his teeth against it, he resents it so much.
“Okay…” Web says after a second, when Joe doesn’t continue.
Joe sighs, rubs a hand over his face. He almost wishes he’d had Winters ask for him, but he’s not a coward. “I’m about to go into heat. I’m on suppressants, but I guess they’re not fucking working right. Winters said I could pick a partner.” There. That’s the pertinent information; Web can make an informed choice.
Web just blinks at him for a second, and Joe wonders if he’s actually going to have to fucking ask, and then Web shrugs. “Okay,” he says. “Now?”
