He tried to speak, failed, and could do nothing but swallow blood instead. Something massive was lodged in his chest.

It looked surprised.
“Woah! You already know about me!?” it laughed, genuinely pleased. “I’m so flattered.” A giggle bubbled out of it as it leaned closer. “Didn’t think I was famous enough for even the newest survivors to recognize me.”
It beamed.
