Summary
Evelyn had a plan to make it up to Astra for not being by her side for most of her birthday. A homemade dinner (since she seemed to like Evelyn’s cooking a fair bit), a movie marathon with all her favorites and, most importantly, a clear schedule the next day so she could sleep in as long as she desired. Astra, however, had slightly more… mature ideas on how she wanted to be made up to.
A hand trailed up the length of her torso, long fingers hooking around her tie.
“Are you absolutely sure you want this?” Astra asked, gentle, and Evelyn couldn’t help but melt.
She could deal with simmering sex appeal, with dangerous domination and flirtatious flattery. She was used to that, to the kind of flirting that was more knives against throats and guns pressed into lower backs than anything else.
But softness?
Evelyn had no defense against that.
Threading her fingers through loose dark hair, she admitted, “I’ve wanted this for an obscenely long time now.” -

Summary
The biggest point of contention in Qingyi and Zhu Yuan’s relationship is Qingyi’s deep-set insecurity. It isn’t what the movies have led Zhu Yuan to expect, clingy and suspicious and suffocating, but instead it is sad, quiet and self-deprecating, a “I’m waiting for you to realize you deserve so much more than me and leave”. Zhu Yuan wants to prove that she isn’t going anywhere, that her love for Qingyi is real, but how is she supposed to do that?

Wise tried unsuccessfully not to imagine the Public Security officer in such a compromised manner. “Guess so," he agreed hoarsely. "If you wanted to, not that you’d be in such a position to begin with.”
Zhu Yuan enlists Wise's help and videotape player to review confiscated vintage cassettes with missing labels, and curiosity gets the better of them when they find out what's on the tapes.
