It stunned her, sometimes, how easily they’d fit into each other’s lives.
Maybe because they’d been partners for almost ten years, maybe because they’d already orbited the other’s spaces, lingering in the edges of one another’s home lives but not there, exactly, or maybe because they’d learned each other’s cues and tells over hours on stake outs, shared lunches and all nighters, together.
Maybe it shouldn’t have caught her by surprise, the fact that they did so well together, after all, on the job it hadn’t been that different – they’d met and clicked.
