“That was you? Earlier in the—chasing me?”
“Yeah.” His tone is breathy, eyes half-lidded as they stare at Grace. “And you came down to me. For me.”
Court sounds mystified at the last part, almost reverent in the way he speaks, looking up at Grace like he's something to be beheld. He leans back in, and Grace yelps, slapping a hand over the Alpha’s mouth. Court looks up at Grace balefully, and for no reason at all, the image of a sad, wet cat appears in Grace’s mind. He lets his hand slide down to rest on the Alpha’s collarbone.
“What—what about Will—the Omega?
“What about him?” Court presses forward, boxing Grace in against the tree, brows knit close together as he stared down at the Beta. His tone is fervent and angry as he speaks. “He's nothing. I could—I would treat you better. I’d give you anything.”

He pauses the second the coffee hits his tongue, blinking down at his mug like he's seeing it for the first time again.
"What? Did I not make it right?"
"No, it-" Graces shakes his head.
Simon is paused awkwardly by the table, one arm half outstretched as if ready to take Grace's mug at any moment and replace it with more perfect coffee somehow.
Grace swallows. "It's perfect."
You really remembered? he doesn't say. It didn't quite hit him earlier and it feels like a sucker punch to the gut now. Simon remembers how he takes his coffee after years of no contact when his last failed situationship a mere six months ago could barely remember that Grace wasn't his first name.
