Summary
“Lambert,” the threat underlying Vesemir’s tone is clear. He’s testing the other man’s patience.
“I-I know I’m not your favorite.” He says, the words a literal tidal wave of sound. He can barely make sense of the word vomit spilling from his lips, and he’s the one saying it. “I-I’m not… I’m not like Geralt or Eskel. I’m not good. But fuck… I want to be. I wanted so badly for you to love me that—”
Vesemir narrows his eyes, “So you just… presumed that I didn’t? Instead of coming and telling me how you felt, you let me—and your brothers—think that we’d lost you.”
Lambert blinks at him dumbly, his sleep-logged brain taking a moment to process what exactly it was that Vesemir had just told him, “W-Wait, you… what?”
Vesemir doesn’t seem to hear him, because he continues, “And I do not have favorites. You and Eskel and Geralt are all precious to me in different ways. You are three unique individuals… how would I ever judge you against one another? Why would I ever want to?”
