Makoto Naegi wasn't sure why he decided Hope's Peak Academy was safe enough. Not after the 'Tragedy' during middle school. Mr.Kirigiri's words were just words, yet he knew the man was very determined to keep the promise. This school was much more popular than his middle school, even with the smart and famous people that had gone to it.

Summary
No one though Hajime Hinata was someone important, just someone that thought he was important. His brother was in the Main Course while he was in the Reserve Course. So when rumor goes around that the plainest, most average, most talentless guy in the Reserve Course attempted suicide most students only laughed at the fact the boy couldn't even kill himself correctly. No one ever thought that the kid's condition would lead to an investigation of the entire Reserve Course, why the Principal and Director of Hope's Peak Academy Jin Kirigiri was forcing all faculty to hand over their grading rubrics and student work for the entire year, and why the police were investigating a bullying case turned assault and attempted murder of the boy who they all though just jumped off one of the school buildings.
Yes, no one thought that Hajime Hinata's comatose condition would lead to so many people experiencing so much pain, grief, and complicated mess of emotions, especially when his own twin seems to be spiraling into a greater depression without him around.
The question a lot of them ask though is: "Why didn't I do something sooner? " as many do in retrospect.

Summary
Cornered in the Yellowbox Warehouse, Light manages to escape by revealing himself as the 16th Remnant of Despair and calling for help from two of his own, without a notebook but causing unimaginable losses to the members of the task force and the SPK.
As the de facto successor to Junko Enoshima and leader of both the Remnants of Despair and the misguided Warriors of Hope, it's Light's turn to play, and he is no longer playing nice. Under Light's guidance, the Remnants rapidly gain ground and cause catastrophe to tear down the world and build it anew.
As the newest members of the Future Foundation, Aizawa, Matsuda, and Near work with the killing game survivors to gather up the Remnants. When Makoto Naegi suggests a way to return Remnants to their original selves with the help of an AI version of the late Chiaki Nanami and L Lawliet, it is a method hesitantly accepted. But everything goes wrong upon Monokuma ending up in the Neo World Program.
In the end, the survivors of the Yellowbox Warehouse must confront their pasts and the dark secrets of the Future Foundation when forced into a killing game of their own.

Izuru would enter the program, but it was Hajime Hinata that would enter and play the killing game. At least, that was the plan. For once, Izuru isn't sure what to think when he wakes up sharing a body with his past self on the summer beach of the simulation. Not to mention, it becomes glaringly obvious that the memory wipe that they were both suppose to receive was botched.
Izuru is determined to remain a bystander, but regardless of what he wants, the killing game will change.

If you were unlucky or stupid enough to draw its attention - like Makoto - then it's already too late to escape. Still, he pretends to live on the surface, protecting the peace in Hope's Peak as a rookie detective. That was his dream, ever since he was a starry-eyed boy. Reality isn't so glamorous, not when a piece of him gets chipped away each time he's confronted with the dark side of humanity. The final nail in the coffin is that there's no reprieve, no even at home, all thanks to one frustrating neighbor! Junko Enoshima's shameless, lazy, fickle, intrusive, gorgeous and doesn't take him seriously at all! She's enough to make him forget everything else, including his sanity.
