Summary
As he stood by the edge of the crater, looking down into its content, he heard Optimus’ words playing on a loop in his head.
As he watched the colourful metal flinch in pain trying to move, he remember the horror stories shared by Arcee.
As he saw the blue splashes of Energon on the arms, he thinks back… to looking at his poor brother every time he was in the hospital.
As he saw the pool of Energon under the broken up chassis, he understood.
He had never before understood his mom like he did now.
Or
Noah, after rebuilding Mirage after the fight in Peru, starts learning about Cybertronians and how they work, effectively becoming their human medic. But one crash landing later, and all his new knowledge will be put to the test.

Summary
Primus knew, Ratchet would do anything to shield his sparkling from harm. Yet, the War made exceptions for no one, not even at the insistence and threats of grumpy old medics. Thus, sometimes the only thing Ratchet could do was to hold and comfort Bumblebee in the aftermath of disaster.
Or: 5 times Ratchet had to encourage Bumblebee to open his servo. The gritty, the wholesome and the dark.

Summary
The best medics made excellent use of a personal private log: a document as confidential as any patient file, but seen by no other practitioner. This is where a doctor's compromising emotions and conflicts of interest go to be buried, addressed some other time, under better structure.
Ratchet was far too old to be indulging in such feelings, otherwise.
