That sent an unpleasant jolt through him. Sweat began to bead at the back of his neck—still left over from practice he told himself.

"Don't tell me you didn't know.”
The sweat grew colder. He had defected two seasons ago, and the guilt still burned. But he didn't think it prudent to show how deep that cut went.
He frowned. "So you want me to… what? Be your new ‘Gojo’.”
“I want you to beat Gojo.” He said. “Tokyo plays Calgary in the IDS. To start, are you familiar with those forechecking traps that completely shut down star players? The ones specifically designed to cage showboats like Gojo?"
"Go on."

Summary
The room was a hazy grey, the tears in his lashes blurred it further. Kevin forced normal breaths down his throat and walked to Jean's bed. In the pale light he looked at Jean's face, tucked and hidden by his arms.
Unthinking, Kevin touched his cheek and smeared him red.
Pain jolted up his left hand side.
He woke Jean up.
Or, Kevin takes Jean with him when he flees Evermore.

If he’d asked, truly asked, I want to see you topped with please, Jean would have cursed him out and jumped on the first plane to South Carolina. And perhaps I guess you could come here is not a stern come to Palmetto that it could have been, but it is not good enough, it is not what Jean wants from him. In the end that’s what’s changed the most: Jean can want things now, not as much as his heart would like to, but just enough to expect something honest from Kevin.
Jean brushes his fingers over the ridiculous print of a beret on his brand new sheets and asks, "Is there even a difference in your vocabulary between those two?"
"Is there for you?" Kevin retorts.or, Jean Moreau agrees to visit Palmetto during winter break. It goes about as well as you might expect.

“Stop tiptoeing around me.” Satoru’s voice was more of a plea than an order.
Suguru still tensed up at the words. “Well now you’re the one not making that easy.” He mumbled under his breath, making a visible effort to keep his eyes glued to Satoru’s face, trying to prove a point.
“Why?” Satoru asked forcefully. “Why is it not easy?”
Suguru searched Satoru’s face with that contained distress that was oh so him. “Because you’re just- ” He blurted out before catching himself. “You’re just not easy.”
or Satoru knows nothing of kindness, but Suguru knows everything about it. Through punches and kicks, they learn to love each other.

The sense of relief is short lived. Years ago Jean would have considered it a tiny miracle to be able to spend even a moment alone with Kevin. They would have leaned close together and spoken in quick French, eager to make the most out of every second without supervision.
