If someone had told Marco a week ago he'd be sitting in the brig of one of the Whitebeard Pirate ships, he would have kicked them out onto the ocean. Without a lifeline. But here he was, sat in that said brig, bored out of his mind.
They were going to kill him, that much he knew already. And if they didn't, then him being stuck on this goddamn boat would bring death to him on a silver platter. He needed to get out before any of that happened.
Now, if only they'd fucking listen and understand that, no, he isn't part of their family for sea's sake!
(Or: The Whitebeards trying to adopt Marco while simultaneously trying to survive all of Marco's murder attempts, because no, they aren't his family, thank you very much.)
