A short(shorter than I thought...) little fic I had an idea for and wrote late at night based on some choices I made in ep 3 of Scarlet Hollow. If you haven't played ep 3 then I'd recommend doing that before reading unless you want vague spoilers. I didn't outright say anything spoiler-y but I'm covering all my bases just in case.

Summary
Lina Smith and Kane Bailey are both wielders of an ancient magic. They'd grown up together and were almost an age where they'd have to leave the orphanage they called home but now that they'd both received letters that they were admitted to Hogwarts as fifth years... where will their journey take them? They'll have to tear apart their original plans and expectations to see.
In this, there won't be much canon divergence other than writing in a secondary main character. Both Kane and Lina fit in the main character role and therefore the story will swap between their perspectives at times. Those will be the only two perspectives to not make it too confusing but there will be other new characters of my own creation added to the story that will change it slightly or heavily depending on the scenes. “Kitten?” you questioned, scrunching your nose up.
Ruggie’s watery blue eyes focused on you. “What, you don’t like it?”
A challenge. Stand your ground or let them claim it - the choice was yours.
“It’s not that I don’t like it, it just came out of nowhere…”
Leona made a sound, halfway between a sigh and a hmph. “Give him a scrap and he’ll scarf down the whole meal, y’know.”
You felt a dull bump against your leg and realised that Leona had stretched one leg out. Ruggie noticed it too and snickered to himself.
Cornered.
They had cornered you. You could stand up and return to your friends, but that would be backing down from them. That didn’t seem like an option.
Bite back.
You nudged Leona’s leg with your own and held it in place. A retaliation that set a spark dancing in his eyes. The thrill of the hunt.

Summary
The last thing you expected from your clash with Octavinelle and Azul's overblot, was two new eel-shaped friends. Or, perhaps friends was stretching it, you were pretty sure there was some kind of scheme going on, though you also had no idea what they could possibly get from you. But maybe, secretly, deep down they were growing on you more than you wanted to admit.
A day spent with Jade was quick to turn everything on its head and you found yourself sitting on feelings you had never expected to develop and a firm certainty that he'd never like you back.
