Summary
Dean and Sam Winchester are a topic of interest to the FBI, and one agent has been hunting them since the beginning.
Special Agent Castiel Novak has been hunting the Winchesters since his best friend Dean took off in his father’s Impala at fifteen after a mysterious house fire assumedly killed the rest of his family. Castiel wants answers about everything that happened in Lawrence—about what happened to his best friend, about what happened with the fire, and about why Dean ran. And now Dean’s name is beginning to pop back up onto the radar after eleven years of near silence, and Castiel is in charge of the case, but he’s not prepared at all for what he’s about to find.
Castiel has to let it all go. He has to forget that Dean was his best friend, and he has to forget that he loved him, and still loves him despite everything he has done. Because Dean Winchester is on the Most Wanted List, wanted dead or alive, and it’s Castiel job to find him.

Summary
Dean’s world ended the night that Castiel walked through the door two hours and thirteen minutes late, his trench coat rumpled and his hair standing on edge, and tears rolling down his face as he shakily whispered, “I think I want a divorce.”
Dean had broken his arm once while jumping off a roof when he was six on a dare from Sam that he couldn’t really fly like a superhero. Dean had been in a car accident when he was sixteen and had been in the hospital for a week. He’d had to bury both of his parents within the span of a month, when his mom died of cancer and his dad couldn’t handle it, and turned to drinking instead of his family. None of that hurt as much as those words did.

When Castiel needs a place to stay, Mary invites him into her house, where there’s loads of spare room. Castiel’s aware that they make an odd pair, but he doesn’t fully realize how things look to outsiders, especially to Mary’s eldest son. All Dean Winchester sees is that his mom has apparently hooked up with a hot young guy (who is totally Dean’s type) and that makes things… weird.

Summary
Castiel's spent most of his adult life keeping his head down and staying out of trouble. This is a deliberate choice on his part, because as a cousin of the King, he'd rather stay unimportant and forgotten. This changes abruptly when King Michael decides that he has a better use for Castiel: he is to be wed to a noble member of the neighboring Republic, as part of an agreement between their two nations.
Castiel knows he has to obey, but that doesn't mean he won't rebel in what small ways he can. Unexpectedly, his actions end up having far-reaching consequences.
