Summary
Jason blinks, trying to take stock of his surroundings as fast as he can. He knows what he was doing just before this, and tries to piece together the story quickly before he can annoy the Big Bat anymore than he already has. It didn't matter how hard Jason was working to earn their trust back, Bruce would never care for him again. He didn't have the luxury of taking his time, of crying out that he didn't know because his head was hurting and his vision was spotting. He wasn't able to do that, not anymore.

He hated it here. At first, he’d thought that he’d gotten lucky when the humans had freed him from the net instead of killing him, but then they started poking and prodding at his agonising wound on his tail, started gabbing about keeping him for ‘observation’, and the next thing he knew, there’d been a sharp prick in his tail, and he’d woken up next to the tiny tank, a human sitting next to him waiting to watch him swim for a while to make sure he wouldn’t drown.
It was the same human every time, there were a few others that accompanied him, but the large, dark haired human was always the one talking to him, gently prodding his tail and asking him what hurt and where.

Humans don't have much of a place left in the world. You, too, have had to flee from yokai before, more than just once. Now, however, you don't really have anywhere left to run to. You're alone in a city full of animals and yokai, and all the places for humans like you have long been destroyed.
Hence you feel that you don't have much of a choice when a strange tanuki makes you an offer that sounds too good to be true: To come with him to a private faraway island where you will be provided with everything you need and be allowed to live in peace. You agree, although knowing that no yokai's intentions are ever as good as they might seem. Right...?

“M-mister Bear?” A young voice interrupts his thoughts, and his ear twitches. They’re behind him.
He spins around. There’s a kid at just a little above knee height. They have a birthday hat strapped to their head, and a Billy Bob doll in their arms. Oh god. Beach hesitates for a moment, before kneeling down so he’s closer to eye level with the kid, and chuckles nervously. “Uh. Hey. Billy Bob’s over there, kid.”
“You’re Beach Bear!” He chirps.
He blinks, and nods silently. “Y-yeah.”
His confusion goes right over the kid’s head, and they grin widely at him. “You’re my favorite in the band. I love your guitar! And your hair!”
This is not what he expected.

Summary
When Phantom happens to be near Crime Alley one night, Red Hood's turf, they come across a strange sight. A baby ghost! A toddler! Wandering all alone on the side of the road. His core feels incredibly malnourished, downright sickly, and it almost seems to sing at them for "Help! Help!" Obviously they have to try get the baby back to the realms, to get him to a healer who may be able to provide that help.
Red Hood is just confused as to why he's been swept up by this strange meta rogue, and flown off to places unknown. What do they mean his core is sick? He doesn't even know what a core is!
OR
The Red Hood is a new up-and-coming rogue in Gotham. No one seems to know the man's identity - including Batman himself. So when Phantom finds out the Red Hood is actually a baby ghost in desperate need of help, they know they need to take action and make sure he has a family.

Summary
Bruce is thrilled when his wayward son is willing to attend family events and start mending their relationship. He pulls out all the stops for a gala in Jason's honor... only for his Jaylad to arrive under the thumb of a threatening date - one who seems to know more than he should about the family.
Meanwhile, Jason has returned to Crime Alley after shooting the Penguin, and the months of physical therapy to recover from Batman's 'discipline' afterwards. He is maintaining tentative alliances with the more tolerable bats, but when Dick begs him to attend a Wayne Gala, the Red Hood finds himself scrambling for a bodyguard. After all, who wants to spend an evening undercover making nice with the vigilante who put him in a hospital?
