His ears perked up, and for a brief second he wondered whether danger was approaching and he had missed something. But a quick glance up reassured him that her excitement was positive—she was brushing her hair into place, her grip on his leash relaxed as she slowed her pace, her eyes scanning their surroundings in an almost shy way.
Oh, right. In all the excitement, he had almost forgotten about the coffee-smell man.
