Summary
Mike looks deep in thoughts, wearing the same expression he usually wears when he has a problem to solve. Brows slightly furrowed, lips becoming a thin line before he bites a bottom one, a habit from his childhood. He looks Will in the eyes before something sparks in his eyes, and so he finally speaks, propping himself up on his elbows, Will mimicking his actions as well.
“Then lets just start over.” Mike says, a smirk making its way to his face.
“What?” Will asks, clearly confused by the sudden change of the other boy’s mood.
“Will Byers.” he says, his voice even, as if declaring the most serious information in the world, it doesn’t match with his mess of appearance, though.
“Do you wanna be friends?”

“We’re dating,” Mike says, and it takes every ounce of composure Will has not to choke on his next lungful of crisp, spring air.
The girl guarding the door to the party glances at their clasped hands, then back at Mike. “You’re…”
“Yup,” Mike cuts her off flatly, as if daring her to say anything else.
“Mike…” Will says his name under his breath, but he still says it like a warning.
“We don’t like to be so public about it but, well.” Mike lifts their clasped hands, shaking them at the door girl like they’re one giant fist. “You drive a hard bargain.”
Will raises his voice. “Michael.”
Mike turns to roll his eyes at him. “William, baby,” he scoffs, squeezing Will’s hand in his. “It's Valentine’s Day. Don’t be such a buzzkill.”

Summary
District 12's Will Byers has never claimed to be lucky for a single day of his life, but being reaped for the hunger games twice in a span of five years? That has to be a joke, even for someone as unlucky as he is.
At the very same time, Mike Wheeler from District 1 could not care less if he wins or not. The Games are not terrifying to him, they’re just something he exists for now. He doesn’t want to die, sure, but living in such a boring, repetitive world doesn’t mean much to him anyways.
Really, neither of them expected to find love in this hell on earth.
