It was somewhere around the wei hour that his position began, very slightly, to crack.
By eventide, as the light was going gold and shadows grew long across the floorboards, Chu Wanning had constructed a complete and adequate theory of the situation.
The theory was this: Mo Ran was bored with him.

Mo Ran, helping a village down the river, ends up staying away longer than promised.
Chu Wanning is not happy about this. He goes to fix the situation and, incidentally, his husband.
He does not improve the situation.
Someone needs to come and save Chu Wanning from himself.

“I knew we never should’ve gotten involved! Fuck, why did His Highness have to pick a guy like that?!” Feng Xin shouted.

Xie Lian returns to Puqi Shrine while his beloved San Lang takes care of some urgent business in the Ghost Realm. Shi Qingxuan comes to visit and invites him out for a night on the town, but their party is crashed by Mu Qing and Feng Xin, who have been ordered to watch over Xie Lian in Hua Cheng's absence.
What starts as an innocent night out ends in chaos when Xie Lian gets drunk and disappears. Shi Qingxuan, Feng Xin, and Mu Qing frantically try to find him before Hua Cheng finds out and beats them to a pulp.
