Summary
Inspired by the scene where Ezequiel holds Michele's head underwater, and of the flashbacks of Ezequiel and Julia.
When Julia held Ezequiel's head underwater, it was like a baptism, a reframing. Ezequiel thinks the same is true when he does it to Michele. She reminds him of Julia, and of his past self. Sometimes we see ourselves best through the fractured reflection of another person, but is it true? Or do we only see what we want to see?

They budged a little, but any attempts to button them resulted only in breathlessness and a mild stomach ache. Glancing down, he sighed, lying a hand across his middle. It was easier to blame the cut, or the company, or any other excuse rather than look in the mirror and see the truth.
He’d gotten chubby. Again.

“Oh.” She mumbled to the silent room. Still, she couldn’t help but be surprised. When Emmett had originally quipped about not sleeping since 1992, she had laughed along for what felt like the first time since starting school. Yet within a few weeks of his mentorship, she wondered how much of a joke that had been.
Emmett falls asleep during a study session. Elle tucks him in. Cuteness ensues.
