“Convict,” said the woman with the bone leg, her voice a dusky rattle. “You’ve been brought here to accompany a necromantic adept on a scientific expedition as his protector, in exchange for the pardon of your sentence.”
“You’ll kind of be like my cavalier,” said the gorgeous man jovially.
“He is not a cavalier,” corrected the woman. “Not even close.”

    Summary

The idea of holding any living, breathing thing in his arms after all this time was. . . certainly something. It was forcing feelings to bubble up that Grace thought he had made peace with, even if his track record of making peace wasn’t exactly stellar. And of course, there was the ever-looming fear that he had completely imagined the whole thing, that the image of a mutilated, blood-soaked human appearing on the ship for him to take care of was just some twisted fantasy that his brain had invented, and that he was doomed to slowly lose his mind and wither away before even getting to stand on solid ground again—but even still, the feeling of a warm, breathing thing in his arms had been so real, so different from any other possible sensory experience on the ship, so strangely comforting despite the grotesqueness, that the idea of it being a complete figment of his imagination was, frankly, scary.

    Or:

Is Grace touch-starved enough to blindly trust this guy who just spawned onto the Hail Mary covered in blood? Yeah, probably.

His eyes are at once dead and horribly, horribly alive. The milky film over his cornea does little to hush the luminous golden brown of his irises, huge around pupils so shrunken that Martin can hardly see them.
Jonathan Sims blinks. Then he frowns.
“Am I to take it you’ve never met a vampire, then?”
Oh, Martin is going to get a rubbish review.

    Or,

Struggling for income, Martin registers with an app that connects vampires with willing blood donors. His first client is not at all what he expected.

    Summary

Aziraphale sat down rather listlessly by the small stream. He’d only ventured a few steps into the forest – just enough to not see the house anymore. It was a beautiful day – almost as if meant to spite or mock him, he thought.
Here he was, out on the perfect day for a lovely, romantic picnic, and back home, in his cottage, his partner of seven years was… well.
He wasn’t sure what Gabriel was doing… for all he knew, the other man was still shagging his hook-up. Then again, he never had the best endurance, so odds were, they were in the awkward sweaty stages of sex now, because Lord knew Gabriel didn’t cuddle afterwards.
    --
Crowley was having a crisis. Actually, he was having two of them, but they were so closely related to each other that he wasn’t sure they weren’t one slightly bigger crisis – but whatever the definition, he was having a moment.
He had just behaved in a very un-Fae-like manner, and he wasn’t sure why. The human – the one who’d been sobbing by the river – had disturbed him as he’d been napping in the water. His sobs had been unpleasant, yet also oddly melodious – and he’d looked so very, very crushed.
