But there was one problem: his 2IC wasn’t with him. Sure she was there, but only physically. She was avoiding him, not engaging. Jack felt the loss every day. Now he had to figure out both what was wrong and how to get to her. Sam, on the other hand, couldn’t tell. If she bore her soul and told him the real reason he would know how she felt about him. That alone could end her career, and if he didn’t return the sentiment, it could end much more. Nope, she needed to get over this and him all by herself. Which brings on the next problem, Jack wasn't willing to let it, or her go

The kind where he just wants to be alone, but knows he doesn't want to feel lonely.
The kind where he pulls away and folds himself up until he can disappear.
