Summary
Minji, a young girl from a poor farming province, joins the royal military to support her struggling family.
Her life turns on its head when she is divinely selected to serve the Emperor’s first daughter, Hanni. Minji learns to live alongside the Princess as her royal guard and despite their differences, they become unlikely friends.
However, political tensions within the kingdom reach a boiling point, and a violent insurgence led by Hannis uncle forces the pair to flee into exile.
Nameless and in hiding, they stick by each other closely. Together, they push back against her uncles regime, choosing to fight for a country that is lead by democracy, not fear.

Summary
Senior year of highschool was supposed to be about surviving finals, petty drama, and college apps.
For Hanni, that much was true. Forever a theater kid and certified book worm, she was focused on passing her exams, memorizing her lines and… not much else, actually.
Kim Minji, on the other hand, couldn’t be more different.
As the star quarter back on the football team, Minji is effortlessly popular, extroverted, but most importantly, Hannis best friend and next door neighbor since, like, forever.
Despite their differences, it’s always been them against the world.

“Do you ever wish it hadn't happened?” Minji asks, and Hanni doesn’t say anything for a moment, her eyes an endless expanse in the darkness. She knows that Hanni understands the question she’s asking.
Do you ever wish you hadn’t chosen this? Do you ever wish for an easier life?
“Yes,” Hanni sighs. Her fingers brush the spot over Minji’s eyebrow, where just an hour ago there’d been a fresh bruise. “But then I wouldn’t have met you.”
