The beast looked him straight in the eyes, as if seeing straight through everything Damian had so carefully concealed — and he knew at once: this wasn’t a beast; a werewolf, perhaps. Or maybe a clueless young mage or a stray wild spirit. In any case, it was someone who could sense the pulse of magic on instinct.
Damian had long since smothered his own. The wolf wouldn’t look away.
For some reason, the snap of the trap felt like a handshake.

“There are books. And temples,” Damian tried with redoubled force to pull him off his jacket, but Tim clung to him with his other hand.
“Lies! I haven't seen a single one dedicated to you! Certainly not in Gotham. And my parents are archaeologists, too!”
“I have many names,” Damian replied dryly and finally shook Tim off. “The fact that you're an uneducated commoner says nothing about me. As for my temples,” the young man backed away. He didn't look like a god: ordinary jeans and a worn jacket with stretched pockets. Worn sneakers. Ordinary hair, black and tousled. Only his eyes stood out — such green eyes simply did not exist in nature, but there they were, right in front of Tim. “As for my temples, they are hidden. But those who want to find them always do.”

The half-human stopped, his cloak rustling across the floor. Damian kept his gaze fixed on the inviting fireplace. He knew he had been caught. Knew that it would be this way — it was meant to happen.
Timothy knelt down, and his fiery palm covered Damian's cold, still damp hand.
"This time, you're far away," the dragon murmured almost inaudibly.
