Summary
They had rules. Not spoken ones—spoken rules were too easy to weaponize. Their rules lived in habits.
One of those habits was: Chuuya didn’t assume. Not about touch. Not about sex. Not about affection.
Dazai was… complicated. He wasn’t someone who wanted in a simple way. Want, for him, was a thing that came with hooks and history and a thousand reasons to flinch. Sometimes he did want. Sometimes he wanted with an intensity that made Chuuya’s hands shake, because it wasn’t casual. It wasn’t a distraction. It was Dazai letting him in.
And sometimes Dazai didn’t want anything at all, and the difference was subtle—so subtle that in the beginning Chuuya had missed it and hated himself for it afterward.
or: Chuuya learns Dazai in the ways that matter—when to pull, when to hold, when to let him drift—and Dazai, in return, keeps choosing him. Some nights it’s heat, some nights it’s just staying. Either way, it’s still them.

Summary
The moment he tried to turn away from the sink, Dazai’s stomach rolled. The aura swam, edges of the dark bathroom tilting and flashing with static, and for a second the mirror caught him sideways—half a face, half a ghost, the rest erased.
Chuuya’s voice cut through cleanly. “Don’t look for it. Look at my voice.”
It was such a stupid sentence it almost worked on principle alone.
Static, nausea, bright crescents of nothing—a blind spot opens in the center of Dazai’s world; Chuuya narrates the dark like a lifeline.
or: when dazai can’t see, chuuya makes sure he knows who’s there.

Summary
Dazai’s body knew this trick. It had learned the tiny climb, the first step away from the ledge. It knew the way “a little better” could become its own craving, the way it would start reaching for “more” with a calm, practical hunger. Sedatives didn’t ignite him—they made him liquid. And liquid things always looked for the lowest point.
He shook out another two tablets into his palm.
He told himself he was being careful. He told himself he had a reason. He told himself his head hurt. He told himself anything that made him feel like a person making choices instead of a worthless husk following a groove worn into its brain. The words were thin, but in the fog thin words still counted as architecture.
Swallow.
Wait.
or: a shipping container is a decent enough place to be alive in a way that barely counts.
