Summary
Javert turned slightly, preparing to leave.
But his feet refused to move. A flicker of memory stopped him - of one night of the past summer, at the barricade - that night something cracked within him, though he still couldn’t name it. Now, standing over the same man, he felt the fissure widen.
It was infuriating how the past refused to stay buried.

After the June rebellion, Javert makes an attempt to return to his normal life. Fate has other plans.

Summary
“Why have you come? To gloat that you finally caught me?”
“No. If you hadn’t wanted to be caught, I wouldn’t have succeeded,” Javert clenched his teeth. Although both of them had known it before, now he openly admitted that Jean Valjean was stronger than him.
“So what are you doing here?”
“Three days,” he grimaced. “You asked me for three days. Will that be enough?”
The prisoner jumped up and immediately leapt towards the bars, making Javert take a step back, fearing an attack.
“Yes, three days will be enough! I don’t wish to escape, I simply must help this poor woman, allow me to do it…” Valjean said in one breath, then added quickly: “Monsieur l’Inspecteur.”***
Before his arrest, Valjean asked Javert for three days to find Fantine's daughter. He didn't agree to let a convict go then - but what if he actually considered the child's possible existence and this proposition?

Dear Jean Valjean,
Please note that Arial is not among the three approved internal presentation fonts. Read the introduction file for presentations I have attached below, as you seem not to have done this despite having been employed for three years.
Your Teams profile shows that you are active, and should you not respond within the hour, I will come down there myself.
Respectfully,

Summary
"Marseilles was beautiful. Even like this, spring only just beginning to stretch its fair green gossamer over trees and trellises, it was obvious. The sunny shopfronts, the bustling streets, the glinting spires of the churches; everywhere one looked there could be seen the signs of prosperity and progress. And then, the wind picked up, the taste of salt in the air, and all at once great clouds of sails could be spotted, billowing wide and welcoming against the blue of sea and sky.
To Jean Valjean, it seemed not a little bit like Hell."
