Silence stretched between them, thick enough to cut.
The whole point of the Invisible Mafia was to remain anonymous. You couldn’t make any friends or conspire to escape if you didn’t even know who you were talking to. People were much easier to control and isolate when they could barely remember who they were outside of the color of their trims and the position in the hierarchy they symbolized; it was a carefully engineered system, designed for the sole purpose of controlling everyone in its ranks. Revealing one’s identity might as well be treason—Egg had already seen enough soldiers get stasis’d and executed through his communicator to know.
But here was this untrimmed grunt, supposedly just a random kid who wanted to play on the wrong server at the wrong time, doing just that.
Or: Egg makes a friend in the mafia.

Something in him shudders at the tone of that question. Rone hums, shoving his hands in his pockets so he doesn’t do something stupid like wring them. “Depends.”
The husk of a sea elf below him visibly hesitates, swallowing thickly. His fingers tighten weakly in the linens he’s tangled in.
“...Can you change into her?”
Or: A week after Selenia dies in the Shattered Cove, Rone checks up on Leonas.

Soojin smiles at her, eyes crinkling into warm little half-crescents. “Don’t be so nervous,” she coos, thumb brushing a stray lock of hair out of Jungha’s face. “Just think about what I would do, yeah? Use your eonnie as an example. Can you do that for me?”
…Can she? Soojin makes it look so easy, bossing Jungha around and working her up with the smallest of touches. She knows just the right amount of push and pull to turn Jungha into a complete and utter mess and then some beyond that.
Jungha likes to think she knows Soojin that well—after all, her eonnie always makes sure to tell her how well she did and how good she makes her feel after their time together.
Shouldn’t she be able to do that for Soojin, too?
Or: Jungha tries to dom her girlfriend for the first time. It doesn't last.

“So nervous!” Jeongguk giggles, trailing off into a considering hum. “Do I look like the type to bite, Jin hyung-ah?”
Seokjin would take it as a rhetorical question to poke fun at how nervous he is, if Jeongguk hadn’t leaned over to settle a palm on Seokjin’s thigh over his jeans. “Uh,” he answers dumbly, tongue thick in his mouth.
“Do you want to find out?” He murmurs, quiet enough that Seokjin almost thinks he’s misheard.
Or: Jin accidentally invites a vampire into his home. He doesn't end up minding that much.

Summary
“Do you even really like women?” tumbles out of Fiddleford’s mouth, and to his credit, he seems a bit surprised at himself. But he doesn’t take it back; he just peers over his glasses at Ford for an answer.
Ford feels like he should be flustered or maybe even offended, but he’s not, not really. Whether that says something about him or just the bottle of whiskey on the floor between them is up for debate.
Or: There's no way they didn't explore each other's bodies in college.
