Summary
“I’m fine.” Nicky said. His smile was mean as he paused the game, slouching off the couch. “I’m gonna go get a drink. You better text daddy back before he decides the baby is too precious for sleepovers.”
Luca blinked as Young disappeared, hot embarrassment sparking in his stomach. It left as quickly as it came though, because that was fucking weird. First of all because it was uncharacteristically mean of Nicky, who while he didn’t have the same reputation for being nice as Luca was certainly not a dick, but also because even if it wasn’t Nicky was little too. Why would he even chirp Luca about that?

Summary
Luca didn’t feel well. He wasn’t really sure how to categorise it though. It was something small, a pinprick of discomfort that he couldn’t place which made it feel like it was coming from everywhere. It was driving him sort of crazy. It had been going on for a few days. At first he hadn’t thought that much of it. It started as a tiny ache in his jaw, one that he’d put down to grinding his teeth on his mouthguard during the game a bit too much and forgotten all about. But then for some reason he hadn’t been able to sleep, which had given him a headache, which made his eyes itchy and his ears feel weird, and from there it just hadn’t stopped.

Summary
“That is stupid too.” Ilya declared. Did not call Haasy’s mother an idiot, in case it made the boy sad, but he wanted too. “You are still tiny baby person. You and every other rookie. You are all like if an infant was a grown up.”
“Gee, thanks.” Luca snorted, a yawn stretching past his lips. “I’m sure Bergy would love to hear that.”
Ilya laughed softly, kissing the top of Luca’s curls gently. Bergy always took great pride in the fact that he was the most responsible of the rookies, always making sure they got home safe or stayed on task during training. He would make a good captain one day, when he was older and wiser.
“You know she is wrong, yes?” Ilya asked. “Family is supposed to take care of you. There is no expiration date to that.”
“I guess.” Luca hummed.

Summary
Technically speaking, Luca wasn’t avoiding them. They had known that the roadie would be busy, that dropping probably wasn’t going to fit into a jam-packed schedule of games and flights. That was the whole point of the weekend drop session to begin with, to keep Luca from spiralling until they managed to get back into a steady routine. So no, Luca was not technically avoiding Shane and Ilya, no matter what LaPointe said.
“Whatever man.” LaPointe replied flippantly, when Luca had told him as much when he had asked why Luca was avoiding them. “You’re usually attached at the hip is all.”
“I am not!” Luca defended which made Holmberg, the fucking traitor, snort into his shitty airport coffee. Luca was mildly vindicated when he promptly choked on it.

Summary
Luca was sweaty, his chest heaving as he sat in his cubby, back leaning against the wall while he caught his breath. His face hurt, split wide in a grin while he watched the others dance around the room jeering. It had been a good game. A hard game, one that had required focus and care and discipline, but good. Ottawa had won, 5-3. Two of those goals had been made by Luca, and he had assisted LaPointe in another. He had stripped down to his compression shirt, watching the bustle of the locker room around him.
It was a Wednesday night. They had two days off before they returned to the rink for another home game on Saturday. Then they were on a roadie for two weeks. It meant Luca was going home with Shane and Ilya to spend as much time in headspace as possible before they got too busy to keep up with their usual schedule, because for as much as Shane and Ilya both told him it was fine if he did, Luca had no intention of dropping during the roadie. The two days of little time had been the compromise.
