Scaramouche turned toward the man who had called out for him, immediately scowling at the voice.
Ajax emerged from the shadows of Zapolyarny Palace, a sly grin on his face as if he relished in the obvious annoyance of his presence.
"Miss me?""Not in the slightest, Childe," said Scaramouche, voice clipped. He kept on walking, uncaring as to whether or not the other Harbinger followed.
"Come on, we're alone. You don't have to call me that."

Ei turned towards Yae, who was staring at her with an intense mix of fear and rueful anticipation in her eyes.
"It's too late now. We already bought the guns." She nodded to the pair of handguns lying in the backseat, dark handles glistening and heavy as if waiting to be touched.
"Fuck," Yae cursed. She opened the car door and got out, grabbing a pistol and tucking it under her dress. "Fuck, okay. We're doing this."

“I apologize for scaring you, Scaramouche,” the stranger continued with another smile. God, he was just like Yae. “I’m Childe.”
He reached his hand out and Scaramouche paused for hesitantly accepting it. Scaramouche’s hand was cold whereas Childe’s was warm. The action was brief, but Childe’s warmth quickly enveloped his cold skin in the short moments their skin touched.
“I haven’t seen you around here before, are you new to town?” Childe asked.
Scaramouche hesitated before replying. Did he really want to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger on his vacation? No. But did he want to help Ei unload bags from the car? Also, no. “Yeah, I’m here on vacation for the summer.”

Scaramouche takes a vacation with his mother, Ei, and her wife. He expected the summer before college to be dull and boring. That is, until he ends up meeting a bright young man that seems to be hiding something.

Artificial. Fake. Words she had heard many times before, both from herself and whispered daringly behind her back. Her skin? Fake. Her hair? Fake. Eyes? Fake, though a lovely color. Almost an exact match to the ones she left behind.
A soft exhale sounded behind her and Ei turned to see Yae laid sleeping on the bed, still tucked under the blankets. Her pink hair felt smooth beneath her fingertips, so unlike the coarse, flawless hair that was Ei’s own. This body, these sensations—they were crafted by another pair of hands. She was never born, she was made.
Correction: The Raiden Shogun was made. Ei herself burst into existence.
(Basically just angst that ends happily.)

The outlaw huffed a laugh. “Well, I reckon you’ll be waiting a good long while then, ranger. I only spill one secret per drink, and I ain’t got the money for twenty drinks today. Or the liver.”
“‘S fine, “ the ranger said, shrugging. “I’m a patient man. You know any farms that could use my help while I wait?”
The outlaw took a long, deep drink of his whiskey, tilting his head back as he emptied the last of it.
“You’re in luck,” he said, setting his glass down on the counter with a steady thunk. “My ranch ain’t much, but it’s more work than I’ve been feeling like doin’, lately. I could use a hand.”

Kokomi blinks slowly, taking in the words quietly. This game is simple, deceptively so, there’s no clear cut objective to creep towards, and Kokomi feels displaced, out of her depth. Because duelling is all she’s ever known; she was raised with a wand in her hand and lightness in the tips of her toes; winning is what she’s been taught quietly and painstakingly and repeatedly through the years. Yet this game has no winning or losing, only survival.
So, if the bottle lands on her, all Kokomi has to do is survive.
Child’s play, really.
or; darkness wraps around them, and all kokomi has to do is evade sara’s scorching embers for seven minutes. seven minutes, though, proves to feel more like an eternity.
