Summary
Bucky enters a local yarn store. His reason: Steve. His mission: crafting. His experience: surprisingly good.
This story is almost entirely composed of the never-ending scene wherein Bucky and a yarn store employee discuss how to choose a yarn project and then select yarn. The author is okay with this, perhaps because the author is a knitter. (And crocheter, and sometimes spinner, and sometimes weaver... you get the point.)
Bucky has trauma, but while it's very present here, it isn't going to blow up in his face, and the spectacular employee he's interacting with does their best to help him get through the experience safely and successfully.

Somehow, Bruce had directed Bucky to what had to be the only craft store in all of New York City with employees who could handle an uncomfortable, mostly non-verbal ex-assassin. (The Bruce-voice didn’t point out that Bruce himself probably liked the store for the same reasons Bucky did. Bucky already knew that.)

Jiang Cheng deliberately didn’t tell him that it’s his birthday and when he sees the gifts on his table he figures he was right not to.
Nie Mingjue and he haven’t been in a relationship for that long, and Jiang Cheng figured it would be unfair to put Nie Mingjue onto the spot like this when obviously not even his own siblings can figure out what to get him.

Killua sighs. “We don’t exactly have all the time in the world, kid, come on. Your father’s gonna notice I’m here soon. I only have about a minute. You gotta gimme something.” The baby blinks up at him again, hands grabbing the blanket wrapped around it. Maybe it does bear some resemblance to his brother, with those dark, blank eyes that just stare. Then again, that’s something all babies do.
A card whistles past his ear so hard it nicks him. It had been thrown so hard that it’d buried itself halfway into the wall and cracked it. Killua recognized it immediately, but he couldn’t sense the man who it belonged to. Figures. But he shouldn’t have been able to sneak up on him so easily.
Or, Killua attempts a rescue and gets surprised.
