Summary
It's Wilbur's senior year at the University of L'Manberg, and he's determined to go out with a bang. Balancing classwork with being the president of the Chess Club was never easy, but as he always does, he’ll make it work by any means necessary.
But when a poorly-thought-through decision from administration forces the Chess Club to merge with the Card Games Club, he finds himself neck-and-neck with his arch rival, Quackity, as they compete for the title of president of the brand-new Board Games Club.
Will Wilbur defeat his enemy with ease through every trial and tribulation? Or will his obsessive hatred of his classmate bleed into something much more complicated?
(Well, I think we all know the answer, don't we?)

Summary
Every morning, he would stand in the elevator, legs planted slightly apart in a practiced effort to appear casual, hands fitted into his pockets, just in case anyone stepped on with him. He would tell himself to look aloof.
It was difficult to look aloof, though, when he could feel it drying under his fingernails, crumbling to dust.
He would fight the urge to pick it out.

After running his daily errands, Quackity returns to his room.

Summary
He wanted to feel it. He pulled his hand from Karl’s own, and pressed it against the one on his cheek, pushing it closer, closer to his face. The languid kiss grew more desperate, and Quackity knew his features were twisting, contorting, as his mouth slid against Karl’s.
Here he was, with Karl, with Sapnap, after everything. He was theirs. They were his. Destinies intertwined like embroidery thread, kaleidoscope pasts layering over one another, a smattering of color and light between them. He refused to allow himself to waste it.
***
At the end of the story, Quackity struggles to adjust to life in Kinoko Kingdom.

Summary
Wilbur’s expression underwent a metamorphosis, from shock to a deeply sad smile. Pitying, maybe. “Karma is a cruel mistress, innit?”
“What?” Quackity questioned incredulously.
“It makes sense for me to be here,” Wilbur began, before clarifying, “Dying alone in a cave, I mean. I’ve become something awful, haven’t I? It makes sense as the end to my story. But you’re here, too.”
“This isn’t poetry, Wilbur. It’s just bad luck.”
Wilbur’s smile shifted, slightly, by way of response. As if to say, I’m not so sure about that, and I don't think you are, either.
***
Pogtopia is destroyed by Withers, and Wilbur and Quackity are left alone at the end of the world.

And with Quackity’s first question came a response as stiff and political as he had expected from Wilbur. He spoke of wanting to protect his people, but surely, Quackity thought, surely there must be some other reason Wilbur has done everything he has.
“Can I talk to you as a person?” Quackity had asked. “Forget the elections, forget the politics, forget we’re politicians right now. I want to talk to you up close. I want to talk to you as a person.”
Talk to me as my soulmate, was the unspoken request he gave. Tell me why the universe chose you for me.

this is one of the first tntduo fics i ever read and i think about it so often. the way the author writes karlnapity in this really gets me, the tragedy of pogtopia being where tntduo really starts getting to know one another when you know whats coming, ughhhh the soulmate bond just makes it go owies even more. i love the authors prose too its lovely and this is altogether just a really effective retelling of quackitys lore <3 Q_Q

“Do you happen to keep sugar around?” Karl asks. “I take mine sweet.”
Wilbur passes him the saltshaker.
“Thank you,” Karl says earnestly. Wilbur watches with childlike glee as Karl adds a generous amount to his cup. He blows on it, then sets it onto the counter to cool.
Wilbur’s not a coward, so he takes a sip of his while its piping hot to assert dominance.
But Wilbur scalds his tongue for nothing, because Karl’s not even looking at him.

this quote has absolutely nothing to do with what i like about this fic most but it is the one i think about most often so its going here. this story is everything. it has the most wonderful aesthetics and scenery wrapped up in it (ESP IN KARL POV), it has wonderful characterization of karlnapity AND tntduo, the flashbacks add so much to the story, its FUNNY, the drama and plot are well thought out and well written, it has such deep connections with the plot of the dsmp and i love how op has written this so it wraps up both karls and the eggpire arcs super nicely in a way that makes perfect sense, IDK I COULD KEEP GOING FOREVER also karl in this is the best thing on earth i love him so much and people in the comment section may judge him for his exploits but i personally think he deserves to do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. PLS READ IT LUNA_ECLIPSE_WRITES IS MY WIFE OK BYE

Bookmarker's Notes
“you still have blood on your cheek,” he notes, wiping the redness off wilbur’s face with a hand.
“mhmm,” wilbur tilts his head into the contact, turning to press a chaste peck to the palm against his cheek. quackity blushes, laughing breathily.
“dumb fucking ass,” a kiss on the tip of the nose. “alright, that’s enough. turn around, i’m gonna wash your hair.”
“my hair’s fine,” he quips back. “oh, look. i just bit my tongue. kiss it better, maybe?”
***
this author is very skilled, and also chose to indulge my personal favorite trope of "wilbur and quackity being kind of sort of nice to each other", which makes this fic worth a read, then a reread, then another reread after that

Summary
Quackity had come to terms with being alone.
Yes, he had the people in Las Nevadas, but they were a means to an end. A necessary component to running his new country.
Citizens, and nothing more.
He didn't expect to be greeted by an old friend.

Bookmarker's Notes
Ghostbur broke off into sobs, and despite the deep-set guilt Quackity could feel setting in, he couldn’t bring himself to comfort the other. The one who so resembled the man he loved in life, the one who’d been so close to the edge but Quackity had managed to bring back, several times over. Who'd left on a bright, beautiful day, when their dreams had finally come true. When it seemed like they could finally be together in harmony, with their friends, with each other, in peace.
But Wilbur had wanted to go. And when he wanted something--well, it eventually came true.
“Why did you want to leave us?” Quackity demanded, but no words escaped between Ghostbur’s sobs anymore. He could feel irritation, dread, conflicting emotions he couldn’t comprehend with their comings and goings, rushing through him as he spat out venom, “You can fucking--you can defend your feelings for me, but not your life? How can you care about me but not yourself? If you’re not there, there’s no us. There never will be!"

glitz a real g for showing me this one. the conversation between quackity and ghostbur as they try to connect but realize it's impossible is so poignant and tragic and well written

Bookmarker's Notes
Wilbur nodded, apparently satisfied with his answer. “I’m not sure I’ve ever been okay… I- I don’t know if I’ve ever loved anyone.”
“What, uh… What brought this on? Is it something I can help with or…?”
“Just tell me what it’s like. Love.”
“I think it’s… Okay-” He paused to gather his thoughts. “I think love is something you feel, like- like it makes you feel warm and welcome and happy- well maybe not happy all the time, but it makes you feel more content… But I think it’s also something you choose. You wake up every day and choose to let certain people into your heart. And you do it because you know they won’t hurt you, or at least- uh- I mean if they do hurt you, then you know it was worth it.”
Ranboo checked Wilbur’s face for a reaction. So far it seemed like this was going over well, so he continued. “I think love is giving someone the, uh- Sorry- the button to destroy you and trusting them not to press it?” He winced at his own metaphor. “Sorry, you are not the person to use that metaphor with, but I couldn’t think of a better one so… Sorry.”
Wilbur nodded slowly. He didn’t seem mad about the button metaphor—that was something—but he did seem upset. “So that settles it.” He said, then he gave a shaking laugh and ran his fingers through his hair. “I’ve never loved anyone.”
