Dennis barely contains a scoff. Crossing his arms he straightens, standing as tall as possible. Their height difference really doesn’t help Dennis, not when Robby is literally looking down at him all the time. “I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t want to, Robby.”

Without waiting for a reaction or reply, the man bore down on the gas and peeled down the highway, leaving Buck stranded in the middle of nowhere somewhere along Interstate 10.
And as Buck watched the red brake lights of his Jeep disappear into the distance, clutching his prescription of blood thinners tightly to his chest... there was really only one thing left to do. Tilting his head back until he was staring at the stars, he took a deep breath and screamed into the night:

His handsome face is already set in a scowl and he honestly looks kind of pissed off, but then his gaze finds where Dennis’ hand lingers against his abused throat and it gets so much worse.
“What the fuck?” Jack hisses and stalks over.

Dennis had been more than happy pretending to be a Beta. Patches were expensive, and he always felt bad when he slipped a few from the hospital supply. But the momentary guilt and a rash or two were a small price to pay to avoid being an anomaly among his peers. The fact that he got away with the deception for so long was a miracle in and of itself.
