An audience filled with wet women and hard men, all doing their best to pretend they weren’t aware of the musky scent suffocating the room–pressing their desires not only towards one another, but into the harlequin onstage. He felt the carnality of it. He grinned as men shifted uncomfortably in their tight pants, their confusion passing through his head without his approval. They thought he was painted like a whore, and maybe he was, but weren’t they the ones paying for him?

Summary
Lestat wonders how to tell Louis that he doesn’t need to read their daughter’s mind to see the thoughts written on her face. He wonders if Louis has seen them himself– but of course he hasn’t, innocent as he is and as horrified he would be if he had. He seriously considers it– sitting Louis down, explaining the thoughts and feelings going on behind their daughter’s eyes. Explaining how he knows such things because he felt the same for a parent once too.
Or: A short insight into Lestat’s mind during episodes four, five and six from season one.

Amadeo lay in the dark silence, hand delicately tracing the stone enclosure before drifting to rest on his stomach. The pain was still there, eating away at him from the inside. Idly, his hand started pressing. Pushing down, down, down as if he could physically force the hunger away. His body molded to the bottom of the coffin as he crushed his abdomen.
His breath caught.
Amadeo turned sharply to his side, gagging as he released the pressure on his stomach. Saliva dripped down his face as he heaved. He wrapped his arms lightly around his middle, resting his head against the cold bed.
This didn’t feel like love.

Louis felt his breath get knocked out from his lungs as if punched. The blood he drank earlier in the night drained from his face and a weird sense of nausea came to him. “Hey. Lestat, hold on. I- what do you mean?” He asked carefully, gripping the soft fabric of the armchair thigtly and wishing, hoping, that he got the wrong idea. That Leatat didn’t mean… “Pl-“ Nope, he couldn’t say it. Because how could one ask their husband what they meant by pleasuring his mother. The words just refused to come out at the profound wrongness of it. So he settled for the next best thing he could ask. “Comfort you how?” he rasped out.

Louis and Lestat rekindled their relationship after all the drama because of the book and they are working hard to make it work this time. It’s still not perfect but they managed a relative peace for the past two years. That is, until Gabrielle came to town for a visit.
Or, how Louis (alternatively) reacts to finding out about his ex-husband’s past with his mother.
