Tengen watched him serve a customer. Kyojuro was dynamic at cash, smiling and chatting with each person in a way that made them feel special. Tengen was so wrapped up in watching him that Kyojuro had to nudge him to prompt him to make the customer’s drink. Once he’d completed the order, he turned back to Kyojuro.
“Can I ask you something inappropriate for a coworker?”
“Will you ask me either way?”
“No.” A steady golden gaze. “Okay, maybe. But are you okay if-”
Kyojuro laughed. “Tengen. Ask.”
“Do you like men?”
He smirked. “Why do you ask?”
“Call it curiosity.”
“Well, curiosity,” Kyojuro leaned in and Tengen’s heart stuttered, “you’ll have to work for that information.”
Oh, he was a goner.
