“Is there anything I can do to help?” Bea asks, gentle.
“I wish….” Henry starts, but the words are swallowed up like the sand lost to a gulping wave.
“Alex?”
God. Is it that obvious? “Yeah.”
Bea holds him and says nothing else. Even if Henry tried to explain everything he’s feeling, everything he’s longing for, right now, he doesn’t think he truly could. He’s never been able to put this feeling into words.

Ben blinks, bewildered. How fervently they’ve touched each other, how urgently and without question. And yet, yet Callum remains the most gentle person he’s ever known.
“Yeah,” Ben pleads. “Yes.”
Callum’s arms stretch across him and it’s dark but Ben knows the lines of him well enough to feel safe, comforted.
