Summary
In the summer of 978 AD, a young Norse family arrives in a small village now known as Mystic Falls. Mikael and Esther along with their two sons, Finn and Elijah, settle in quickly. Mikael establishing himself as a pillar of the community for trade, Esther being brought under the wing of the village seeress and healer Ayana. Over the next 10 years, the family welcomes five more children.
A boy given the name Niklaus in the fall of 981. The winter of 982 bringing another son whom they name Kol. The following winter, in 983, they welcome the first daughter, a premature little thing called Astrid. Summer of 984 brought with it's end a second girl, this one stronger than the other, given the name Rebekah. And four cycles later, in the fall of 988, they welcome their final son. A boy named Henrik, who would change the family in ways only Ayana could possibly predict.
