Summary
It’s happened enough times by now that it feels like a running joke. Seonghwa throws out a complaint about never being praised properly. Hongjoong meets it with an easy grin and just enough teasing in his tone to keep it from tipping into anything serious. The members laugh, the staff laughs too, and the moment passes like it always does.
And afterward, Seonghwa leaves everything exactly as it is. He straightens his posture, gathers whatever dignity remains, and pretends—very convincingly, he thinks—that he has absolutely no deeper emotional investment in the situation whatsoever.
Seonghwa tells himself he is above fishing for compliments. This belief lasts right up until Hongjoong is the one withholding them.

Hongjoong's best friend Seonghwa is a god, worshipped as the Moon Goddess reborn. Hongjoong has been chosen to be his personal attendant—he takes an oath to serve him, protect him, and worship him the way a god is supposed to be worshipped. There's just one little problem that cannot be longer ignored, neither by Seonghwa, nor Hongjoong himself.
Hongjoong is desperately, completely, stupidly, and irrevocably in love with him. And he damn well knows he shouldn't.

It was raining again.
Not the cinematic kind, where droplets hit the pavement like a rhythm, but the miserable kind—the kind that felt like it had seeped into Seonghwa’s bones long before the clouds ever split open.
He sat on the curb, soaked, cigarette long gone soggy between his fingers. His modeling agency ghosted him. Again. His apartment was barely livable. And honestly, if one more person called his look “outdated,” he might scream.
But he didn’t.
He sat there, staring at the puddle pooling around his boots. Until a pair of white sneakers stopped in front of him.
“Hey.” A small voice, calm but firm. “You’re gonna catch a cold.”
Seonghwa didn’t look up. “Already have one.”
He didn’t expect the stranger to kneel beside him. He didn’t expect a jacket to be draped over his shoulders. Or for the stranger to say, softly—
“Come with me. Just for tonight. I’m not gonna leave you out here.”
And he especially didn’t expect to follow.
But he did.
