He’d managed to grab his collection of letter seals (consisting of his personal one, his stolen stamp of Luminara, his old Therian stamp, and the Aculon Royal Family’s), a few of his notebooks with assorted plans, diagrams, and general musings, and strangely enough, the letters.
He wasn’t sure why he brought them with him. He wasn’t particularly invested in the woes of a man driven to madness by paranoia and cowardice, but seeing them strewn across his desk reminded him all at once that perhaps he and his father weren’t that different after all. That paranoia ran in his blood; and even worse, that this was the closest he would ever feel to the man.

"Yeah, but me and Flux don't use that many pet names," Saps says as he’s typing. "I mean, I guess I do a little, with 'baby' and 'babe' but that’s it! It's not like I'm saying 'honey' or 'sweetheart' or some shit like 'my love' or 'darling'—"
He keeps cringing with each one, but the bit is too important to commit to. By the time he's finished listing off more and more names, his face feels hot and he stops typing. The room is silent, and Saps looks around. Flux and the goons are staring at him, mouths wide open.
"Uh…Flux?”
"Oh my god, I think you broke him," Thomas says.
Or: “Aww, poor baby.” (“Shut up.”)

His eyes never left Saparata's. There was no pleading or fear in them, nothing that Saps would expect from a man in his position, just level determination, like he was trying to see through Saparata’s eyes into his brain, like he could hear his thoughts if he stared hard enough.
So Saps stared back, unwilling to be the one to back down, to look away. Once, maybe, when they were friends he would have, he would have made some joke to ease the tension and let Fluixon win. But that was a lifetime ago, and he wasn't that person anymore. Neither of them were.

After being on the run for about a year, fate seems to lead Fluixon back to Saps, again. And Saps is a little sick of it. And yet, here he is, insisting he be the one to take Fluixon prisoner. Because really, if anyone kills Flux, it should be him. But does he even want to anymore?
AU where Saps never sends that message to Flux, they never fight in the arena, and Saps has to figure out exactly what rebuilding a life means.

Saparata did what had to be done. He struck Fluixon down in the colosseum and ended the encapsulating war that begun with the two of them. Finally reached peace among the islands.
Only for Saparata to wake up somewhere completely new, with the events of the past nothing but a distant memory, and a shiver down his spine that suggested things would be very different this time around.

With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”
