“Yes, I know. I’m too hot. I play too much good hockey. My husband is too sexy. They will kill me,” Ilya says, smirking into his beer. The rookies all laugh, and Shane snorts into his neck, even though Ilya is pretty sure he has no idea what he just said.

Of course Ilya will attend the gala, but he can’t be too excited, lest Mr. Hollander smells his callowness through the phone, so he settles for a meek: “Maybe.”

“This guy is pretending to be Shane Hollander on Grindr. It’s pretty funny. He’s cropped the face out, but he’s using pictures from the billboard next to my apartment.”
