Summary
Freshly retired, Shane Hollander thinks the hard part is over. No more roaring crowds. No more ice. Just real life, and the one thing he’s wanted for years: a family. He and his husband are past “someday.” It’s supposed to be now. Shane does everything right. Vitamins. Timing. Patience. Hope. And still the tests come back negative, each one taking a little more out of him. So Shane finds the best fertility doctor in Canada, the one who specializes in athletes, and shows up alone anyway.

Tommy stares down into his coffee cup. He doesn’t have a problem with two guys kissing—obviously, he wouldn’t have agreed to this billet arrangement if he did—and he’s not surprised to see Shane and Ilya doing it—like everyone else with even a passing interest in hockey, he saw the FanMail—but, well, he’s maybe a little surprised to see that what they were doing in the FanMail was, apparently, just a casual kiss for them. Judging by this, anyway.
When Shane and Ilya agree to become billet parents, they resolve to keep their (admittedly intense) sex life carefully confined to the bedroom, and out of earshot.
They do an okay job of that. All the other parts of taking in a rookie? They do even better.
