Summary
They stop by a convenience store on the way out of town so Ransom can refill his gas tank and they can load up on the disgusting snacks that neither Holster, as an officially signed member of the NHL or Ransom, as a medical student, should ever even consider putting in their bodies. After that it’s less than five minutes to the highway, and they roll down the windows and blast Nicki Minaj, and Holster tries to rap along to Super Bass, and Ransom can’t stop laughing. He’s sure that if there’s a heaven, this is what it would feel like.
Ransom and Holster spend their last summer together on the road. "Last" has never felt more like a four letter word.

Summary
He reaches up and scratches his face because if he has to keep his arm pressed to Ransom’s like this for any longer he might do something stupid like wrap it around him, and then he might do something stupider like lean over and kiss him, and he’s not ready to deal with the fallout from that right now.
He can feel Ransom’s gaze on him, and he self consciously pushes his too long bangs out of his eyes and wonders if Ransom can see his internal struggle on his face. He wouldn’t be surprised; he’s trying pretty hard to resist the urge to just start screaming and not stop for a very long time, and that seems like the kind of thing that would be easy to notice.

In 2009, while Jack Zimmermann was curled into a ball on his bed in the most expensive rehab center in Montreal, the Seattle Schooners hired talent scout (and former Olympian) Georgia Martin as their new Assistant General Manager. The Falconers had made her an offer, but they clearly viewed her as a token "diversity hire" where the Schooners truly valued the perspective a woman of color could bring to their organization.
In 2015, she signed Jack Zimmermann, and the day after he graduated, Jack moved the 3,000 miles from Samwell to Seattle.
Now it's 2020, and Jack is happy. He loves his team. He only has one regret, one reason why part of him will always wish he'd signed somewhere on the east coast...
It's 2020, and the social media firm Bitty works for just transferred him to Seattle.

And it fits, of course it does; he wouldn't back down from a challenge either. Competitive down to the deceptively soft core of him, unwilling to give Jason just one inch, even in this.
