    Crowley wasn’t sleeping, per se. It was a muggy day; his eyes were heavy, and Aziraphale had been prattling on for a while now. His voice was soothing—could anyone really blame Crowley as he was lulled into a trance-like state? It would have been a good nap, too, except something Aziraphale said breached the haze in his mind, startling him into awareness.

    “Oh, Crowley, I do wish you’d make the effort.”

    Snake eyes flashed open, and Crowley sat bolt upright, feeling suddenly very human as his cheeks grew increasingly warmer until he was sure they were a startling shade of tomato.

    “…Angel?” he asked, but Aziraphale was already walking away.
